Thick Skin
KERNPUNKT Press, April 2021
“
Stuck where edge of street meets opening to sewer is a knee cap. The rain tries to push it forward, down into that deep hole, disappear, but water only meets the skin and rinses over.
When I press my fingers into her, this vestige of her, we both erode. Inches of skin surrender to a stream that takes what it can.
Is, was, she yours too? Where is the rest of her? How many bodies have you left in your wake? How come I’m only now seeing the pieces?
